Crybaby Album Art

This is a surreal cover design for Melanie Martinez’s Album, Cry Baby. The juxtapositions make reference to the imagery used within her lyrics and music videos. For example, crybaby’s eyes make reference to lyrics describing tears cried from a faucet. The contrast between the bright pink and blue combined with the more muted colours represent a duality of childhood and unwanted emotions. It implies that the cry baby doesn’t want these tears to keep flowing nor does she want her cotton candy heart trapped within the sippy cup. These tie into the overall theme; corruption of innocence.
